Alumni Spotlight

Sofia Mancebo, Botswana ’23

I am super excited to report that the time in Botswana really solidified for me how much I love field work! At the time, I was definitely on the fence between vet school and grad school, and I’m happy to say that I am now pursuing my Master’s at the University of Siena, in Siena, Italy!

I am doing a Biodiversity and Conservation program, and I love it so far! I have been doing a lot of work on freshwater macro-invertebrates, fungi, and am headed off to start my thesis in Southern Italy on the reintroduction of Italic Deer in Calabria!

I loved my time with Round River and am so grateful for everything I learned. I actually just got to do a presentation for one of my classes where I talked about my time in Bots and the RR projects that are going on there! Really excited to continue to grow, continue awesome fieldwork, and hopefully make it back to Botswana someday!
