Impact

Since our inception, we have contributed to major conservation planning initiatives and stewardship of people and place, worldwide.

Our conservation planning, fundraising, and research efforts have directly contributed to the establishment of protected areas in large landscapes that include the Taku River Watershed,  the B.C. Coast, the Yukon North Slope, and southern Utah. These conservation initiatives have protected some of the world’s largest remaining intact ecosystems, culturally significant landscapes, and functional wildlife habitat.

Round River delivers more real and lasting conservation outcomes than many wealthier groups. The edifice of our success is built on relationships cultivated over many years. It is no exaggeration to say that Round River achievements will persist and spread for decades.

While protected area designations secure the status of a landscape, ongoing stewardship is essential for ensuring that these places continue to thrive. Therefore, we measure our impact not only in hectares conserved, but in on-the-ground presence, community partnerships, and continued research and monitoring. Our stewardship efforts have informed projects in North America, South America, Southern Africa, and Central Asia. Our multi-disciplinary approach has directly influenced successful management efforts across these landscapes, while supporting the cultural revitalization programs, capacity building, and intergenerational knowledge transfer required to make conservation work for local people.

We continue to pursue a holistic conservation vision that values time spent in place, collaboration with partners, and ongoing stewardship of people and place. Our efforts consider the long-term health of landscapes and future generations of stewards, with the purpose of creating a lasting impact.
