Helena le Roux Ohm, Namibia ’03, Taku ’05

Helena le Roux Ohm – better known as “Linky” – is an alumnus from Namibia ’03 and the Taku ’05. After graduating from the University of Vermont, Linky completed an M.S. in Environmental Studies from the University of Montana and a Ph.D. in Sustainability Education from Prescott College. Linky currently serves as the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at The Center for Discovery, an internationally renowned nonprofit dedicated to advancing care for complex disabilities. Located on 1,500 acres of land in Sullivan County, NY, The Center for Discovery houses school campuses, residences, medical and research facilities, and organic and biodynamic farmland. The Center for Discovery has been a leader in examining the relationship between the environment and human health, including advancing ecological architecture, nature-based curriculum, sustainable and inclusive community development, and a variety of meaningful recreational opportunities. In her role, Linky helps oversee strategic outreach and partnerships including grants development, government and community relations, and public-private collaborations.

Prior to working at The Center for Discovery, Linky was an Associate Professor and the Director of Sustainability at SUNY Sullivan, where she helped build national recognition for the college’s leadership on key issues including green building, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and community development. Linky lives with her husband, two daughters, and puppy in Livingston Manor – “a small town with a big backyard” in the Catskills region of New York. She credits her Round River programs as being amongst the most transformative experiences of her life, both personally and professionally.
