David Marquis is a conservation scientist from Montreal, Canada, with a background spanning wildlife research, environmental policy, and field conservation. He holds a BSc in Environmental Biology from McGill University in Montreal, and an MSc in Conservation Science from Imperial College London, where his research focused on the ecology of the endangered Sagalla caecilian in Kenya.
For the past eight years, David has worked with the United Nations Environment Programme, supporting biodiversity conservation and environmental management initiatives in over twenty countries. His work has brought together governments, scientists, and local communities to address challenges in environmental conservation and pollution mitigation, and his experience includes ecological fieldwork in Kenya, Zambia, Lebanon, and Côte d’Ivoire, on projects ranging from amphibian ecology to community-based conservation.
David is happiest when out in nature, and he looks forward to helping students experience Mongolia’s remarkable ecosystems firsthand and to sharing the practical field skills, ecological perspective, and sense of purpose that conservation has fostered throughout his own career.
