Study Abroad

  1. Get in touch with your home institution’s study abroad office to let them know you are considering our programs.
  2. Submit your Round River application.
  3. Send official transcripts to Round River Conservation Studies at studyabroad@roundriver.orgOfficial transcripts must be sent directly from your home university to us. We require a GPA of 2.5 or higher to apply.
  4. Schedule a time to talk to Student Programs staff.
  5. Round River will contact your references and process your application. This typically takes 2-3 weeks.
  6. You will receive an admissions decision. If you are accepted, you will be asked to submit a non-refundable deposit within two weeks. Please get in touch with us if you need an extension on your deposit.

Priority Application Dates:

Summer Term – March 15

Fall Semester – May 15

Spring Semester – October 15

Round River accepts applications on a rolling basis. Apply by the above dates for priority consideration. We will continue to accept applications after these priority dates on a rolling basis as space permits. We recommend applying as early as possible to secure a spot in your preferred program. Upon acceptance, if your preferred program is full, you will have the option to join another program, defer to a later term, or be placed on a waiting list.

Your university may have its own deadlines for study abroad programs. Check with your study abroad office for this information.

Individuals who are currently in good standing in an undergraduate degree program, have successfully completed an undergraduate degree, or are entering their Gap Year are encouraged to apply. We welcome applicants from all academic backgrounds.

You will be contacted within a few days of submitting your application to begin the interview process. The entire admissions process typically takes three to five weeks. During this time, we will review your application, conduct interviews, and assess your eligibility for the program. We strive to make our decision promptly and will keep you informed of your status throughout the process.

Please provide a few examples of past outdoor experiences. If your outdoor experience is limited, please provide an explanation of how you are well suited to learning outdoor skills. Outdoor experience is not a prerequisite to attend our programs. Limit responses to 200 - 500 words.
Please explain one or more conservation or environmental issues that you are most interested in. Address why these issues are of greatest concern to you. Limit responses to 200 - 500 words.
Please write a 2-3 paragraph personal statement (200-500 words) that addresses the following topics: your particular interest in attending a Round River program, your interest in conservation, and your strengths and/or weaknesses working with other people.
Please provide a list of relevant extracurricular activities, including sports involvement, clubs, volunteer experiences, hobbies or jobs.
